Vera Bavinck is a veterinarian specializing in laying hens and the founder of Fair Poultry. She studied veterinary medicine at Utrecht University and gained practical experience in Australia, among other countries. Previously she worked at the poultry veterinary practice AviVet, where she focused on poultry health and welfare. There, she developed KipUP, a welfare measurement method for laying hens.

At Fair Poultry, Bavinck is involved in projects for structural improvements in the welfare of laying hens, both in conventional and innovative farming systems such as Kipster.
