Requirements for Keeping Animals
In 2013, the Minister of Agriculture asked the RDA to establish basic requirements for keeping certain animal species as companion animals.

Given the data available at the time, the Council concluded that it would be impossible to draw up appropriate requirements, and recommended a procedure for obtaining the required information. Since then, the Minister has published the first list of companion animals, based in part on information provided by the RDA. With this summary of the Council’s opinion we are pleased to inform the general public about some of the background and history of this topic.
